Quantitative and Qualitative research
Quantitative research efforts are usually centered on event-tracking and surveys. The analytics collected through this research help us identify interesting user behavior and highlight further research questions, to be tested in a next iteration.
I have regularly conducted both in-person and remote usability testing. This vital form of qualitative research helps us understand what people are doing when using a product or service.

User interviews
I’ve conducted interviews and analyzed results from internal and external stakeholders; this includes users, clients and colleagues.
IA & expert reviews
I’ve reviewed sites and features that belong to clients, as well as looking at old
competition and new startups operating in the same space. Everything from agencies, to e-commerce, iOS applications and more. With proper heuristics too!
Specification reviews
I’ve reviewed and tweaked deliverables from former colleagues, saving what can be used and re-versioning it appropriately.
Personas and Pen Portraits
I’ve created usable and realistic personas that the whole production team could relate to. I’ve also created pen portraits on the fly when running client workshops, prettying them up so they could act as a project deliverable.

Surveys
I’ve designed, written, deployed and analyzed surveys to uncover hidden insights and answer difficult questions relating to functionality and design.
User testing
I’ve run and observed hundreds of user tests and run my own interviews covering heuristic evaluation, usability testing and analyzing the emotional impact of projects I’ve worked on.
